The Boy Inside My Head Can't Be The Man Inside My Heart

Reader,

While inanimate human-generated objects often litter my path, I also frequently encounter an array of natural wonders that intuit their stories. Though they appear to pose for the spotlight of my lens, I’ve never staged one. Not the 3 tiny rocks carefully placed along the spine of a feather on the beach. Nor any of the heart-shaped rocks and leaves in my “Love Fearless & Dance” collection, or the “Time + Tide” glyphs etched into the sand by sea water. But I have positioned myself around an object to capture it from a perspective that reveals a narrative. Like this one, “Red Leaf Crossing”. I laughed out loud, when I got close up on this leaf poised in the middle of the street, like it was sprinting across ahead of me. Needless to say, I made it to the curb before it did; and when I glanced back at its crimson Gumby-like posture, I was compelled to go back and shoot it. I had to quickly lay down in the middle of the street to catch it at a perspective that gave it active sentience. Which felt like the White Rabbit skipping through Wonderland, once I framed the shot, with the stop sign in the background.

Draped around this photo on the mock album cover is a shot called “Life in Shattervision”. The patio door of my friends’ condo mysteriously shattered, and stayed in place a couple of days without crumbling. It was close to sunset when I took this picture, because I was fascinated by how each tiny crack reflected the light with white, brown and blue streaks. Nestled behind “Red Leaf Crossing”, unseen in this composition, an apartment building across the alley staked its claim in the frame through the glittering maze of shards.

I’m interrupting this missive for a special announcement…

Though I intended to release “Imaginary Bands & their Fake Ass Songs” coffee table book in time for holiday gifting, 3rd party Print-On-Demand companies offer very slim margins for artist and patrons. So rather than do a wide ‘retail POD run’ of the book (which compromises the quality), I’m offering a very limited edition bundle of 125, signed & numbered books and album art photos, for $150. So this holiday season, all proceeds from my art sales, will be used to raise $7,213.24 to cover the cost of printing & shipping of the 125 books and 12” x 12” album art photos. I intend to start shipping the these bundles in mid-January, just in time for Valentine’s Day. And a pop-up exhibit & book signing event sponsored by a luxury music brand in Los Angeles in February. I’ll share more info on on that, and other events in upcoming emails.

So click HERE to view this year’s holiday portfolio, featuring some limited edition works I created for a show last summer that had to be cancelled. I’m showing them publicly for the first time. This year’s blank card collection is comprised of “Imaginary Bands…” origin photos. So there are some great holiday gifts for every budget — and payment plans for the larger items. If you’re listening to this on SoundCloud, I’ll add the portfolio link in the description. As always, I am exceedingly grateful for your support.

Now back to this week’s “Imaginary Bands…” story...

Just when everyone thought Taylor Swift was the crown princess of the break-up song, imaginary singer-songwriter Summer Falls took the ‘Gram by storm with her late-night acoustic acoustic performances of her sullen melodies that grabbed the hearts of gals between 13 and 93. On a mission to control her creative destiny, and retain the majority of her revenues, Summer set up her own subscription streaming portal that presently generates almost a million dollars a month. Her shrewd business moves has allowed her to save her family’s Iowa corn farm, and send her baby sister to cosmetology school.

Her latest album “The Boy Inside My Head Can’t Be the Man Inside My Heart” (which includes a limited vinyl edition, distributed exclusively by Finger Lips) chronicles her decades-long crush with an emotionally unavailable dude, who affectionately glided side by side with her, until trauma triggers activated his avoidant shadow side and sent him scurrying back into his boy cave. Her candid lyrics and catchy melodies have made ‘dating yourself’ an international past time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read or listen to my latest “Imaginary Bands & their Fake Ass Songs” story. My next missive will introduce a handful of mythical artists who have joined together to record “A Finger Lips Christmas” album. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek of the “Imaginary Bands…” coffee table book.

Until next time, Big peace!
